Man listen... I don't want to. But here's the truth: My account is dead my boy.
My main account (@kayobracey) has some pretty putrid engagement.
Don't get me wrong... the posts do ok sometimes. Generally my reels will get somewhere between 500-900 views. If I collab with someone with a bigger following, of course they do better. If I run an ad to a particular post, it does really great.... well, because I'm paying for traffic.
But far too often, I'll check my analytics and realize that I'm not reaching any new people. I've noticed that most creators reach is down, it's not just me... but bruh listen. I posted a carousel post the other day that actually provided some value. After 3 hours the post had 2 likes. Not 200. Not 20. Two my boy. T-W-O. Two likes on an account with 19,000 followers dawg. I'll routinely post better than average reels that get less than 10 likes. I'm not complaining. It's a new challenge. I initially had a convo with one of my sister's in Christ some months back after initially wanting to delete my account. She was right in a lot of the things that she said, and I decided not to delete it. Months later however, I'm realizing a trend in Instagram accounts, and social media accounts in general: 1. THEY FAVOR NEW PEOPLE. 2. IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MANY FOLLOWERS YOU HAVE.
I can prove it. I have a coaching football Instagram page. It only has 150 followers on it, yet my stories are routinely seen by 60-70 people and I've had tons of reels get thousands of views (one of them hitting 9,000). Thousands of views, and hundreds of likes on a page with 150 followers? Yep.
Let's compare that to my main page. If I post a story, maybe 20 people will view it. I haven't had a reel get more then 7,000 views organically since last October. That reel didn't have anything to do with music. It was honestly a repost of a controversial video. I often see new pages that pop up that are hyper focused on a singular mission or goal that end up performing really well. So I thought to myself.... why not make a new page that is hyper-focused on a singular goal and see which page performs better? I mean, it's a win-win. I'll call this new page my research page. If the research page performs well, it will become the new main page. If it doesn't, it will remain my research page. My plan is to post my groovy music reels there (as well as my main page). This page will be solely about music. All content will be focused around my songs. The handle for the new page is @groovewithkayo We'll see what happens!
