I'm Starting a new Instagram in 2025 - SMH

Man listen... I don't want to. But here's the truth: My account is dead my boy.

My main account (@kayobracey) has some pretty putrid engagement.

Don't get me wrong... the posts do ok sometimes. Generally my reels will get somewhere between 500-900 views. If I collab with someone with a bigger following, of course they do better. If I run an ad to a particular post, it does really great.... well, because I'm paying for traffic.

But far too often, I'll check my analytics and realize that I'm not reaching any new people. I've noticed that most creators reach is down, it's not just me... but bruh listen.

I posted a carousel post the other day that actually provided some value. After 3 hours the post had 2 likes. Not 200. Not 20. Two my boy. T-W-O. Two likes on an account with 19,000 followers dawg. I'll routinely post better than average reels that get less than 10 likes.

I'm not complaining. It's a new challenge. I initially had a convo with one of my sister's in Christ some months back after initially wanting to delete my account. She was right in a lot of the things that she said, and I decided not to delete it. Months later however, I'm realizing a trend in Instagram accounts, and social media accounts in general:

1. THEY FAVOR NEW PEOPLE.

2. IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MANY FOLLOWERS YOU HAVE.

I can prove it. I have a coaching football Instagram page. It only has 150 followers on it, yet my stories are routinely seen by 60-70 people and I've had tons of reels get thousands of views (one of them hitting 9,000). Thousands of views, and hundreds of likes on a page with 150 followers? Yep.

Let's compare that to my main page. If I post a story, maybe 20 people will view it. I haven't had a reel get more then 7,000 views organically since last October. That reel didn't have anything to do with music. It was honestly a repost of a controversial video.

I often see new pages that pop up that are hyper focused on a singular mission or goal that end up performing really well. So I thought to myself.... why not make a new page that is hyper-focused on a singular goal and see which page performs better?

I mean, it's a win-win. I'll call this new page my research page. If the research page performs well, it will become the new main page. If it doesn't, it will remain my research page. My plan is to post my groovy music reels there (as well as my main page). This page will be solely about music. All content will be focused around my songs.

The handle for the new page is @groovewithkayo

We'll see what happens!

I'm using AI to produce my next album.

Let me use the first part of this blog to complain. This website (and I mean kayobracey.com, not suno) is a glitchy mess. I routinely write an entire blog, save it, post it, and it disappears.

I recently found out that Weebly (my server) doesn't support the use of emoji's in blog posts, and that's why the posts disappear. How the heck is it 2025 and you can't use emoji's bruh?

I actually like the simplicity of the site, so I'll just shut up and deal with it. This post however, isn't going to be as dazzling as my first edit, cuz I'm tired my boy. I'm not even proofreading this mug. If it has typos, ignore them. Now, let's go.

I'm using Suno to make beats now. Why? A few reasons.

1) I'm too broke to keep buying beats from producers. I don't mind buying tracks here and there, but some of their prices are outrageous.

2) I've started making funky, soulful, vintage type of records. There aren't a ton of producers that make what I'm looking for.

3) And finally, since I never learned how to make beats myself, this is the perfect option.

Look at all of the tracks I've made on here... And this is just from this morning haha! I'd normally put an emoji right here, but you know...

Here's the sauce my boy. Pause.

I use a separate AI (deepai.org) prompt to lay out the beat details. I give it similar artists, songs, tell it what BPM I want, how I want certain instruments to come in, if I want reverb on certain elements, etc. You can really go down a rabbit hole here. You have to be specific. Don't just say make me a vintage hip hop beat. Your prompts should look something like this:

Now, copy this prompt into Suno. You can add lyrics too if you want to make an entire AI song, but I prefer to either create instrumentals or, when I do add lyrics, I only add a chorus.

The tool will create two beats for you. If you don't like either option, swipe up and it will create two more. I don't publish any beats that I create on here, as I don't want others remixing them. I'm creating stuff for my album, ya know?

With a subscription (as low as $8 a month), you get commercial rights for your music. That's right. You're the owner. You can get radio play, get licensing rights, post it to streaming services, etc. Sorry producers, but this is a business. Some artists can afford to pay hundreds of dollars to lease a beat or thousands to get it exclusively. I can't. And most other artists can't either. But hey, this is just my opinion so don't take it too personally.

They recently just had an update too. Suno allows you to export the stems of the beats/songs that you create in case you want to edit anything. You can bounce out up to 12 stems for a record.

So, when you listen to my next album that's full of vintage, soulful and funky type of instrumentals, or a song that has a really groovy hook on it with a retro style voice on it... I made it in Suno. For $8 a month. Yep. No gatekeeping here buddy.

This is normally the part where I'd insert a discount code, but this wasn't a sponsored post. Suno doesn't know that I exist. I'm just passing some knowledge along. God bless you all!

Dawg people ask me all the time... how do you dress so well. Where do you get these iconic looks from?

Picture
I would describe my fashion as "Your uncle is trapped in the 1980s and got dressed in a dark closet".
Yea, that's fly aint it? But yall remember when fashion used to be creative? I mean, "cool" used to mean that you went against the social norms and were creative. So here are some of my favorite looks. Feel free to roast me in the comments 🤣🤣🤣
